This work starts with the hale — in a spiritual, cosmic, and ideation sense. There is no beginning and no end in a circle.

Halo as concept — tending toward soft, mental, figural
Circle as image — tending toward hard, physical, literal

The work is intended to have a meditative quality. Quiet. Contemplative. It is produced by the accumulation of marks, building up to form the image. The real and perceived textual qualities of the paint on canvas and pencil on paper allow the mind to be open to any and all thoughts to float into, through and out of this work.

Ralph Privoznik has had many one person shows and has been in many group shows. His work is presently shown at the Perimeter Gallery in Chicago.
